| Lol don’t worry about sending me super long messages, im known for doing it a lot myself, infact this will probably be a super super long one too. Yep i took physical geography at The University of Birmingham at undergraduate and then moved onto geographical information science (GIS) at The University of Nottingham at master’s level. How it works in geography is that there are two main areas; human and physical. Both are really wide subjects but only the cool kids do physical ïŠ In human you obviously learn human things (its a social subject so you get a BA), like how cities are designed and managed, how to predict where people are most likely to shop and traffic patterns etc all sort of human behaviour stuff. Whilst physical is everything relating to the physical world around us (more of a science so you get a BSc); plants/ animals (ecology – my main field), mountains/landmasses (tectonics and geomorphology), waterways/clouds/atmosphere (hydrology), Satellite/Sensor technology (GIS) etc etc etc it goes on forever. I find physical geography far more interesting as im a bit of an eco-freak at heart, i majored in GIS and ecology by the end of my three years. Are you picking uni courses? Or just interested in my overly stressful life XD Just a little background on my current course. The easiest way to describe GIS is to think of Google Earth and everything that goes into that; satellite technology, image processing and interpretation, computer programming, data mass ups (thats just layering data together, like when you ask google where the nearest Costa is it layers all the coffee shop data on a map), land surveying etc etc again its a really broad range. And i like it coz its a REALLY rapidly moving field. I just finished learning about quantum computing and controlling systems through mind control...really cool stuff. They are using it a lot in archaeology these days, did you catch that program about the satellites using infrared to find hidden tombs in Egypt that are completely unknown to science??? Google it. Anyways... enough of my ranting, sorry if i bored you. Thanx for you comment.
